- Methylene-blue consists of small, indigo-coloured scaly crystals with a bronze-like tinge and dark green in transverse fracture. Slightly soluble in water, forming a deep blue solution. It has been used in old-school practice in doses of about three grains in capsules or pills in rheumatism of joints and muscles; and in rheumatoid arthritis. The kidneys have a distinct attraction for Meth.-b., as it appears in the urine within half an hour of the dose; and if the kidneys have their normal permeability the whole is eliminated in thirty-six hours. If there is delay beyond this it indicates that the urea is not being perfectly eliminated and that a tendency to uræmia exists.
- A physician performing the Schiller test, which is an examination of the cervix with a magnifying instrument called a colposcope. Healthy cervical cells look brown when painted with this solution, whereas abnormal cells appear white or yellow. The Schiller test and colposcopy are painless office procedures that have no side effects. As a matter of fact, many gynecologists of days past noted that annual Schiller's test result in disappearance of breast nods!
- Low potency homeopathic dilutions of Schussler and other salts should elicit a taste for those in which the mineral is in balance. In deficiency, the taste buds are rendered mute. The same solution which is used to test the deficiency is the general potency to be administered until the tissue requirements have been fulfilled and the taste of the salt returns. Then it becomes one worth their salt!
- Perhaps the most potent toxins generated in autotoxemia are the ethereal sulfates, secreted by putrefactive bacteria lodged in teeth and bowels. The sulfafloc urine test will help the practitioner see these ethereals in the urine, pointing to further investigation. These thioethers alone proved to be extremely potent sources of disease. Dr. Weston Price (circa 1920's) would grind up root canal teeth, wash them with a solution, filter the solution through a bacteria-retaining filter, and inject the germ-free solution (containing the thioethers) into rabbits. Amazingly, not only would the rabbit become ill, but the animal would reliably develop precisely the same primary disease that the human tooth donor had. In this fashion, Dr. Price transferred to rabbits arthritis; heart lesions; kidney, liver, and gallbladder disease; anemia; pneumonia; appendicitis; eye, ear, and skin disorders; and nervous system disorders, to name only a few. For the more skeptical, it also should be noted that he would use the same tooth, or shavings from it, sequentially in a minimum of 30 rabbits, consistently demonstrating the same disease transferal. Koch's postulates confirmed!
- The most common infections found at autopsy are in the urinary tract, but this is not the place we should be finding them. The patient's hydration status (color of urine, frequency of stool) is almost a sure indicator of what we will find in the lab. It is also the confirmation of dysbiosis as most microbes in UTI's originate from the gut. There are several organisms which may appear in the urine; by far the most common is the bacillus coli communis, identical with the germ always present in the large bowel. What may be most surprizing to the practitioner is how these usually latent and undetected infections are so often responsible for the vague aches and pains of our patients, including headache, backache, and abdominal distress.
