The book is revolutionary. It constitutes in its essence the most serious and
comprehensive attack hitherto published on the present-day system of treating
disease, and consequently on the representatives and supporters of that system.

Cancer, Its causes, symptoms and treatment, Eli Jones MD
It has been said by some critics that cancer can never be
permanently cured; that it always returns. In reply to this
statement, I wish to state that I have a record of cases of genuine
cancer that have been cured for fifteen to twenty-five years and
there has not been a single symptom of the return of the disease.

EHRETISM

Arnold Ehret (1866-1922) believed that disease is caused mainly by constipation. The goal of his therapy is to get rid of wastes by eating foods that do not cause obstruction and by fasting occasionally. The mucus-free foods he advocated were fruits (raw and cooked), nuts, and green leafy vegetables. Ehret believed in the value of undereating. His belief in the therapeutic value of occasional fasting led him to maintain that breakfast should be postponed as far into the day as possible.

HIPPOCRATIC WORKS

It was Hippocrates, nearly 2400 years ago, who put forth the most influential ideas about human health and the creating and preserving of it. His observations and reasoning have formed the basic underpinnings of modern medicine, yet his approaches to actual medical conditions would be defined today as "alternative." Hippocrates espoused such "alternative" ideas as:
· The natural healing power of the human body.
· The importance of eating wholesome unadulterated foods.
· The effect of thoughts and feelings on the health of the body.

Based on this conviction, Sebastian Kneipp (1821-1897), a naturopath and priest, created a life philosophy that sees man going about his daily habits and routines in his natural habitat as an inseparable entity. Sebastian Kneipp’s holistic approach is still of increasing relevance today.

The School of Hippocrates: A Genuine Reformation in Medicine

The Tree of Hippocrates is the plane tree (or platane, in Europe) under which, according to the legend, Hippocrates of Kos (considered the father of medicine) taught his pupils the art of medicine. Paul of Tarsus taught here as well. The Platanus in Kos is an oriental plane (Platanus orientalis), with a crown diameter of about 12 meters, said to be the largest and oldest for a plane tree in Europe. Seeds or cuttings from the tree have been spread all over the world since. A cutting of the tree was presented as a gift from the island Kos to National Library of Medicine, and planted on December 14, 1961 on the grounds surrounding the library. Many medical colleges, libraries or institutions have, or claim to have, trees cut or seeded from the original tree in Kos. It is because of its connection to the profound history of medicine that occured on this island that some institutions planted a plane tree.

The School of Essenes: A Reformation in Medicine

It was at an early time, according to both the ancient scholar Philo and the modern scholar Falk, that Moses trained 2,000 of the spiritual "elect" -- those Jews who had remained vegetarian and refused to participate in animal sacrifice and idol worship -- to be Essenes. AND FROM THIS TIME ON THE ESSENES EXISTED AS AN ESOTERIC MINORITY SECT. Josephus Flavius, born at Jerusalem in 37 A.D., was the greatest historian of the Jews in that period. Philo was the greatest Jewish philosopher of that period. Both men had personal knowledge of the ancient Essenes. Both declared that the Essenian roots are incredibly ancient. The Therapeutae of Egypt became the 'healers' of this tradition and survived to become the earliest Christians.
